Should not matter. Most modes (if not all) only use one side. Mono = one side. Stereo= both sides. At 08:47 AM 5/30/2006, you wrote: >By mono, I don't mean mic input on the radio, I mean mono mic input on >a device that will be used to decode digital modes. > >My computer sound card has ster

By mono, I don't mean mic input on the radio, I mean mono mic input on a device that will be used to decode digital modes. My computer sound card has stereo mic input.  What if I used a sound card that has only mono mic in?  Would this affect the digital mode RX and decoding at all?

Most Laptops have inputs that are mono only! Yes, the majority of digital mode soundcard programs will work fine  with a mono signal. --- In digitalradio@yahoogroups.com, Bill <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Where did you find a mono sound card? what brand and model is it? > Bill-W4BSG > > A

Yes, you can decode the digital modes with mono connections.   I am set up all mono with a stereo card. I just move the balance to the channel with the audio on it.   K4VD  On 5/30/06, kc0rdg <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: Maybe I should have clarified more...If I use a mono jack with a mono sound

Using a mono plug on the Mic input of the soundcard is no problem.   Using a mono plug on the soundcard speaker output shorts the two channels and can burn out the audio amp. Been there - done that! 73, Skip  KH6TY     - Original Message - From: digitalradio@yahoogroups.com
