No doubt there are valid reasons for having an install with every available
language pack included and a multitude of sound files and graphics in the
gallery but I hope that someone considers the difficulty of others who have
limited broadband quotas or poor connectivity. If LibreOffice is to becom
handy to have one
Multilanguage package so I don't need to be downloading language packs.

I'm not, I'm trying to help you understand how difficult such an
undertaking is. The way it was described to me, it would take many many
experienced developers many many months (if not years) to do the rewrite

This is fast becoming an FAQ...
LibO - like OO
Hi, I'm a LO user and that's my opinion about the discussion:
I'm still using LO beta 1 because of its download size.
When I saw the size of package beta 2 and 3, I gave up.
I thought that each beta release I need to download ~300 MB... It's better
for me download this on the stable version.
*So
Bandwidth is not the only reason for a smaller installer, and I'm not even
sure it's a significant one. Users with dial-up internet, slow DSL
connections, or bandwidth caps are used to long, long downloads. The
difference between 3 minutes and 10 minutes might be significant to those of

I have to say I hole heartedly disagree.
Simplicity with choice is great. I agree here, but Keeping our entire
application "Libo" Seamless is a must. The Libo office suite has many

With all the discussion of the size of the download package and the
difficulty of including things like manuals I suddenly realized that
perhaps we are going about this thing entirely wrong! Perhaps what we
should do is offer a CHOICE of several download packages, not just one
