It's not bad. Problem is I didn't know where the accordian was you
were mentioning until my mouse accidently moved over them.
Think a better use is comething like this(in Silverlight):

Where you can tell the minimzed boxes are clickable to be maximized.

Actually, there are interfaces that get rid of the keyboard - see
speech recognition software. http://www.nuance.com/naturallyspeaking/

Anyone have a set of guidelines or suggested best practices with peer review

I recently went about messing around with jQuery to produce a simple
proof of concept of what can be done to enhance discussions on blogs.
This could be applicable in other discussion forums as well. I
borrowed a few ideas from others. Credit is given where due. You can

I think of strategy as the way to create a long-term advantage.
For a football team, it might be to tire a big and slow defense.
For an product company, it might be to differentiate itself in a
commodity market by offering high margin products. (Apple)
For a social software company, it might
Strategy is like the word design. That's a problem we should all be familiar
with. ;)
There does seem to be value in emphasizing a capital S Strategy, which is
what we are all referring to quite naturally, but not forgetting the small s
strategy which is the heart of it having value or not. It
Just to clarify - do you mean review of the performance of your peers
(yearly performance appraisal for example) or specific reviews of their
project work (a design review of conceptual prototype for example where the
focus is the deliverable, not the person)?.

I was just wondering what people thought about the new Microsoft
Surface. Has anyone had a chance to demo it or play with the SDK?
Also, any thoughts on how interaction design will be impacted with MS

Hi Jake,
I think some talented designers from Stimulant in San Francisco might
be on the list to comment. They're doing great work in this area and
are most qualified to comment. I can pipe in with some realizations I
had during my limited experience working on Surface design(s). Hope it
First Vancouver IxDA event of 2009 is lined up!
We've got a private tour at the Vancouver Port Authority Interpretive

The Center is a few years old now, and it is one of the first examples in
this city of an attempt at such an undertaking. We will hear, in their

I hate the design idiom. The instrument is underused, though.
Accordions are jazz. They are superfluous. They are a symptom of a
cancer that should be cut out.
The cause is senseless page bloat.
Focus on tracking, prediction, and reduction. And you'll see that
the need for accordions goes away.

I used the above awhile back. Jquery and Mootools are easier for me than
prototype.
I once had a friend who's family was from Denmark and they had an outdoor

Sounds interesting...which day and at what time is this proposed to
take place? Or are you wishing to gather all interested parties and
then decide?

possible to take a workshop without going to the rest of the conference. We are
