Without havinng done any of my own analysis (take the time to
carefully consider the implications to my own use, and what their
motives might have been), I can defintiely say my initial reaction is
that I don't like it. Biggest one of all -- as someone else already
noted -- is the loss of Log Out
A particular area I find awkward is the traffic page. Was it like this
before the redesign? The size of the page's primary content prevents
it from fitting above the fold -- you have to scroll to see the
bottom of the iFrame, and even then you still have to scroll on the
iFrame to see all of
I couldn't help but think of Jared Spool's comments regarding (and
case studies on) embraceable change as I read through this
thread.

Another endorsement of the NASA site... it's useful when dealing with
unenlightened execs as they see NASA as indisputably authoritative.

Can anyone recommend a persuasive, unquestionably authoritative
presentation on why a formal design process, characterized by
progress toward increasing precision -- for hardware AND software --
makes good business sense?
I've got a VP that doesn't have the time or patience to read
anything too
Is anyone aware of a developer's reference on defining a layout grid
(or the atomic unit thereof) in Visual Studio? I've tried searching,
but am perhaps not using the right search terms.
I mentioned the need for all our UIs to be designed according to a
grid, and got some deer in the headlights.
Perhaps others posted indirect links to this, but I just bought one
today.

Like Angel, I like 8, 9, and 10, and though I understand frustrations
others have expressed, I agree with Dave and Andrei about the overall
initiative. I therefore support engagement, focused on asserting our
collective informed opinion, and attempting to moderate misguided or
overly ambitious

Hi Greg -
Any updates on ski packages offered to IxDAers? If not, what's the
likelihood that there'll be any package offered at all, and how soon
would we likely know details?
Know you've got more in life to deal with than our interest in skiing

actually, yeah... if at all possible, kinda need to have more insight

We're considering before vs. after the conference. Perhaps I should
post a survey for those interested?

I hear ya. As a designer who cares deeply about experiences, I too

Hey Kim -
Sometimes I'll manually recreate stuff (or compile stuff from

the material itself. Seems far too time consuming, but I'll only do it

Maybe I should read the complete history of the thread first, but I
don't think the idea is dead, broken, or flawed. To me, UCD just
means letting user input (i.e., info received in form of a stated
requirement or request, as well as info gleaned from observations and
interviews) *INFORM*
I second that emotion.

posted, so.. guess you have to have a recipient, as well as CC the list.
