I'm the other way. I had nothing to do with forestry until a year ago.
Besides data collection tools for forestry development intervention
activities, I have been helping as a developer for satellite data analysis
for progress monitoring at OFSDP.
This is among the best uses of satellite imagery.

The live disc is aimed for demonstration and trail. It is not optimised for
security or performance.
Ubuntu GIS is getting more attention lately. It is better to go for apt-get.
