I'm experiencing troubles in loading an .ecw image in GRASS 6.4. When I
try to import the file using the raster import (r.in.gdal), I can't find
out the extension, while I've seen that in other previous versions of the
software it was possible to do so.

well the .ecw did not appear in the list of supported formats (but .ers
appears). However, I've seen that gdal support .ecw, and moreover that
people have imported .ecw succesfully to GRASS.

yes, it does support the ecw format, but is your business to go in the
erdas site, register, accept their licence, download the sdk and add the
