Both - SB1 is 20-bit and SB2 is 24-bit output. This applies to both the
DAC and the S/PDIF outputs.
I would imagine that the format would remain 24-bits, but

That could be it. I tried both JLayer and the Java MP3 plugin to no
avail. I'll try changing the sound setting to "Java Sound Audio
Engine" tomorrow when I get back to work.

Another thought - on the mac platform, wouldn't it be possible to listen
for applescript notices/events or something to know when itunes is in
process of ripping or itunes-LAME is doing it's thing, and suspend any
synchronization until the end of the process ?

Seems unlikely that it'd work but I gave the new rhapsody a try here at work
Make sure all your music is analyzed in Music Magic before you integrate
it with Slim Server. Once it is it is best to do a wipe cache once you
turn on Music Magic support in Slim Server.

However it seems to have introduced a bug. The display seems to jump as
it scrolls if there is a title that doesnt fit on one line. This only
occurs in the 'browse album' view and not for example the 'browse
artist'
I'll give that a try and thanks for suggestion - what would be really
good is to have some way of specifying a bracket easily though - you
know, something like a StartRip/EndRip button or such that would cause
it not to try checking the library until I'm done, with me manually
hitting that button

This sounds like a software crash got it into a locked-up state. Try
power cycling a few times and see if it snaps out of it. Otherwise
contact [EMAIL PROTECTED] - they may be able to unwedge it for
you, or it may need replacement.

Will do. It does work sometimes, it's just not reliable. From what I can
tell it works most often when the source file is not flac, and works
least often when it is. It also seems to be consistent with tracks - a
given album either will always work or will never work.

My wireless SB2 is connected wirelessly via a router to the server. It
is a permanent on connection which works very well except from time to
time (2-3 times a week) the clock screensaver stops at a certain time.
When I turn the SB2 back on, the clock rolls forward to the correct time

Okay, I found a better error in my slimserver.log this time for
Forecaster and it looks like there was a missing semicolon at the end
of line 52.
Still dont' have a good reason why Biography started working, must have
just needed a clean restart after installing depencies instead of a
rescan.
