Had the exact same problem so I kicked out my old Alcatel ADSL modem and
my Cisco PIX and replaced it with a Netgear all in one solution.
Now it just goes on and on and on :-)
Using Softsqueeze at work with SSH over a 512kb ADSL connection and
FLAC converted to 192kb mp3.

huh. I have a newish netgear router connected to an old motorola cable
modem. I wonder if replacing the cable modem might be worthwhile?

IIRC, JVC remote codes are broken in 6.0 and 6.01 (and all of the more
recent releases).
I think you will need to download the latest nightly for them to work.

same thing. From recollection, it's as simple as using find to call
metaflac on every flac file it finds.

You actually need to run metaflac in every directory containing flac

I was thinking of getting another Squeezebox, but I have to be honest,
this new application makes the Photobridge VERY attractive for use in
my media center.
When we entertain in our large family area it is almost impossible to
navigate the music collection from across the room, even with the

Help translate
So you have to iterate all of the files in the directory on the command
line (ughh). I'm writing a VBS script to do the same thing and I'm
afraid of exceeding the max command line length, depending on the file
naming convention. So in Windows you may want to find all of the
files' 8.3
Right now I don't think there is an easy way to connect the buttons.
You could always butcher a remote and connect the buttons to that ;-)

It's currently only on SB2. It may be possible to do something close
on SB1 (or even SLIMP3) by adjusting the master volume control
dynamically, but this work hasn't begun.

spaces, quotes etc in them - the standard problem! I guess the solution
here is to use a proper language like perl. ;-)
