I think that is not the best idea (add an HD to an SB2). The whole idea
is that I don't HAVE to have all of the infrastructure (and costs -
silent PCs are expensive) of a media PC to stream high-quality audio
from SOMEWHERE on the net to my audio system. Given that my server
solution has about
I believe the IR code contains a header that is not repeated when you
hold a button down.
Repeating the code in a macro does repeat the header so it's not the
same command to the Squeezebox.

Based on previous discussion and suggestion here I've reworked my patch
into two parts:
1. A core SlimServer patch that adds hooks into the database storage
and remote control search 'button' to allow plugins to get involved.
2. A plugin that uses these hooks to provide lazy searching.

i'll give it a try ASAP (the water pump that cools my server down died
yesterday...). I hope I'll give some feedback in a couple of days

Good chance that the SlimServer service on your remote machine is
running under LocalSystem which generally has no rights to network
shares. If you want to access your share via SlimServer on the remote

I switched to Mozilla Firefox as the browser to use with Slimserver and
it no longer freezes.
Works perfectly.
I downloaded Firefox, installe dit and ran it with the SLimServer link
and no more freezes. Something with Internet Explorer verions and
perhaps certain OS', patches and so on
I'm running 2 SBG's, my server is running on Debian. I thought
that I would take a look at the SuperDateTime Screen Saver (SDTSS) to

It needs more RAM. Is this upgradable, or surface mounted?

Unf. memory is surface mounted and not upgradable.
I have asked the question to the manufacturer though about upping the
memory and if the initial units sell well then we can get the memory
upgraded to 256Mb or maybe even 512Mb.

Thought I'd add my comments here - as running Slimserver on the NSLU2
was one of my original objectives when I bought my (first) NSLU2.
I started with Slimserver 6.0 and Unslung 3.x - but there were too many
pre-requisites to get built by hand for the time I had available ... so
I parked it.

I'd love to post the instructions, but it came about through random

Does anyone have a good way to stream analog audio directly in real time
to a Squeezebox player?
I've had instances doing concert sound when it would be very useful to
feed an audio stream wirelessly to a remote device- for a nearby
listening area for overflow audience, stage mix, etc.

Hi,
I am running Slimserver 6.1 on my unslung (beta 5.5) NSLU2 alongside a
250GB USB drive. All is well, although I still am unable to play back
AAC files at the moment. I am serving up about 7GB music (perhaps 1500
songs) so far with no trouble.

Can I suggest the following:
Stop Slimserver.
Move your C:\Program Files\SlimServer\server\slimserver.pref file out
of the Slimserver directory and on to the Windows desktop.
Restart Slimserver. It will start with the default preferences.
If that fixes your problem, you're done. You will need
