Try dLAN plugs (e.g.Devolo) to get you round the blackspot. Basically
they will give you a LAN using mains wiring and can be used in
conjunction with WiFi. Had the same problem and the dLAN's work great -
I used the 85mbit versions but the 14mbit types should be enough.

I am using idletunes for windows. It was easy to install and use.
warning: it may take a while for the program to start if you have a
large library. Once it starts, it is very responsive. My wish list -

Yes there is discrete power on/off functionality for squeezebox
I don't know the details of the MX500 but if you are using the standard
slim devices codes for the squeezebox then you need to add codes to
slim_devices_remote.ir (in the server IR directory)

power_off = 768934cb
If I shut off Volume Adjustment on my Squeezebox the problem goes away.
Sounds like this is a bug in the code that interprets iTunes volume
adjustment tag.
As a side note, I learned a few things about iTunes. The volume
adjustment tag is stored in the mp3 and the iTunes library (itl and xml
... you might not like it though.
To anyone who is having wireless network connection problems like I was
having, I now have mine connected wirelessly.
Unfortunately I had to buy a new wireless router.

Wow...I have no idea how that happened. I don't see that on my 6.2
interface. I figured maybe it was a player or server setting, but I
poked around and couldn't find anything. Anyone else using the Nokia770

my alu beezle of the sb3 seems to get loose. I remember that somewhere
in the forum Sean said that you can easily fix this with the help of
some super glue. As I don't want to put any harm to my SB3 I just
wanted to ask if there is something to keep in mind when doing the

control a non squeezebox device like the 770. If I choose the
squeezebox as my playback device, the volume control shows up.

OK, after much hair pulling and head bashing, I finally got this bad boy
to work. Prior to this, my Slim 3 was getting a bulsh%t IP from my
network (169.XXX.XXX.XXX) and wouldn't connect to my slimserver. Here's
my setup:
Slim 3
Belkin FSD7633-4 router secured with WPA-PSK
Win XP on a PIII

Before removing it, try loosening the screws on the rear of the device
that may be pushing the plate away from the body. Then, press the
plate back on. Earlier posts indicated this might solve your problem.

Biomech is right that that this is due to controling the 770 instead of
the slim device. Yet, even when I selected the slim device in my
browser control window, the volume control still would not appear.
When all else fails -- reboot. I did a reboot and everything works
fine.

This is regarding bug # 259. What about using IP multicasting to
synchronize squeezeboxes? It appears that perl supports it, and it
would be a great way to have squeezeboxes synchronize. They would just
need to add themselves to a particular multicast group to receive the

application (well, SB1-3 and SliMP3 of course). Most other units rely
on a UPNP capable server.

Bios upgrades (there's actually no BIOS in the squeezebox, but I
expect you mean flash upgrades) are provided, when needed,
automatically by the server.

way to pick up new albums anyway. Got to SlimServer/Server
Settings/Plugins.

I created the following .pls playlist and put it in my playlist
directory. when i click in the playlist name (via browse playlist), two
entries show up, one with the name of listen and the other with the
url. i have titles defined for each entry but neither are displayed.
this is driving me nuts.
I'm not sure you have a Squeezebox2, it was only released in March of
_this_year_.

Be very careful about how you remove the tags. I seem to recall there's
a problem with iTunes and those tags. If you try to undo them the
wrong way, you lose the data and can't go back.

Wireless seems to be very dependent upon the router brand. I had nothing
but problems with SMC and am doing much better with D-Link. Check the
router status page in the wiki for which ones seem to do better than
