JBL Control 25AV could be a good option if you want under eaves

Most of these low cost amps are all based on the exact same chip, since
it's an amazing little beast it has almost no external components. Its
the chip, one cap and a couple of resistors if I recall so there is not
likely any difference from one to the next except appearance and
connections / knobs

Does the Squeezebox work if you connect it using the ethernet
connection. I upgraded the box to firmware 40 and ran it using the
wired connection but the wireless should be working too.
If the wired connection works you can try your idea of forcing it to go
back to the old firmware.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Disabling the AIFF > FLAC and
AIFF > MP3 didn't help. After looking at bug #2095 I'm pretty sure
that that is the issue I'm having. This does not affect all files I
rip using apple losslessand on the cd's that are affected even then

I just got my 880 earlier this month to replace my 688 (688 went to my
dad). It works great with the SB3. The benefits over the 688 are that

Hi, I've recently upgraded from slimserver 5.4.0 to 6.5 snapshots
because I needed Intel/mac support.
I had written an 'extension' to the Slimserver GUI using CGI to allow
editing of Ratings (which I store in the ID3 comments tag) and were
then built into iTunes-like Smart Playlists via a cron
Running 6.3.x
I've discovered why all tracks were shown twice in the playlist: they
existed twice in the albums... Am having a full rescan and so far it
looks ok.

Another vote for the 885 here (European version of the 880). I find that
I use it 95% of the time - for the "special" functions, i.e SB firmware
update, setting the parameters on the surround processor etc I find it
easier to go back to the manufacturers remotes. For normal use though
it's great.

I am using a harmony 880 with the SB, and it's a complete dream. The only
thing that's a pain, is when I upgrade slimserver, and I need to hold down
the BRIGHTNESS key for the firmware update...that doesn't seem to work, but
I think that's more a product of how I programmed the remote.

I just bought a pair of Yamaha 250's
They were 1/2 price at Futureshop (Canadian's Best Buy) for 9 bucks.
They are overkill but sound nice, I power them with a sonic T-amp and
have it around 1/2 volume for a nice sound. Full volume is loud enough
to wake the neighbours.

supports RADIUS and wire the SB3 to it.
But if security is that much of an issue, switch to WPA2/AES.
