Thanks guys,
I have finished the music server using version 6.3.1. I will try to
test 6.5.0 on a different machine. To get 6.3.1 working with Mandriva
Free 2007.0 I only needed to install two extra packages:
perl-DBD-SQLite-1.12-3mdv2007.0
perl-CGI-3.16.1mdk
There seemed to be an issue with
Also if you re-start the service, Slimserver forget's that it was in
Random mix mode and your playlist does not get any more tracks added to
it.

Hello,
after having read the forum I now found out that my anti virus program
seems to be the reason for all the problems I face recently with
SlimServer.
Unfortunately I can't find how to tell Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0
to leave SlimServer (and the MySQL stuff) do their thing without
Just wondering if I have something a miss as I'm sure I have read that
peoples SB's have worked with 30% or so signal strength.
Mine has trouble in the high 50's anything less and SB2 says I need
more signal to work...please!
Just wondering if 50-60% is a normal cut off for streaming FLAC's ?

Try using Net test plugin to see if you can get about 2500kbps @100%.
This is a short burst test so interference won't show up.
The Server health may also highlight transmission vs other problems.
If you are using windows - another indicator of the quality of the
connection can be found with
Try the following. I'm assuming Slimserver has been installed in the
default location on your machine.

menu select Settings.
# Click Protection - Trusted Zone.
# Click the Exclusions Masks tab - Add. Make sure the Object option
Same Problem for me. Nasty sound starting some of the tracks. I Don't
use iTunes at all. The embedded cover art may very well be the problem
and may explain why some tracks have it and others don't. I'll check on

The network test plugin will give you an idea of what your usable
bandwidth is.
In terms of the conversion page, you are selecting which
formats/conversions are available for use. Which one is actually used
depends on the source file format and the type of player. Each player
has a preference

Yes, on 6.5.0, those options should definitely be there.
First, make sure in Server Settings - Plugins that the Random Mix
plugin is enabled, although I don't think you'd see the option in the
main menu if it wasn't.
Also try clearing your browser cache.
Uninstall/reinstall seems so drastic.
Finally I think I found what the problem was.
In HomeServer SettingFormatting there is an option for GUESS TAGS

expect.

I've been spending some time making playlists.
As I've added/change/renamed playlists I've occasionally got Slimserver
to Only rescan playlists.
I find that if I rename a playlist Slimserver still keeps a listing of
the playlist's old name even though it also adds it by its new name as
well.
I have exactly the same problem (see my other post)... signal strenght

Is there any way to tinker with the buffer settings?

Much the same here - Wireless signal strength runs at around 90%,
network test shows 99+% at 4000, yet I get spells of stuttering. :(

I fixed this by uninstalling and reinstalling (along with deleting the
slimserver directory). I tried removing and reinstalling just the
random play plugin, but that did not work.
