Now if you happen to have your collection backed up on an external HDD,
and you ask your friend to store it at his home in case your house burns
down, and he happens to plug it into his server, and you don't know
about it, I guess there's nothing anyone can say about it.

Absolutely legal - if you're living in Switzerland ;-). We still have the
law where you're allowed to distribute copies of audio CDs, video and
printed material to friends and family members

If you are always on the internet, your external IP shouldn't change
unless you need to release it from your DHCP server after an extended
off period. So why don't you simply determine your IP address and use
that directly instead of DynDNS?

Well, I set the Replay gain to off, I also verified the SB thinks it is
playing a 44.1khz file, and I also reset the Xilinx clock chip as
instructed by SlimDevices tech support. I also ripped a file at 48khz
and played that, all with the same result. I am convinced that the
issue is with the DAC

The problem was that there was a shortcut in the subfolders that caused
a circular reference. Removing that shortcut fixed the problem and the
scanning now works the way it always has.

Here I collected the data using an s/pdif analyzer so you can see all
the differences in the "out of band" s/pdif information between an SB3
and a typical CD player:

As you can see, the SB3 reports its sample rate correctly, the same as
a CD play
So is there a way to stream fm around the network? I was in pc world
today looking at dvb cards and noticed an fm usb stick. I have bought 2

an improved DAC and analog output stage on the new SB4. But this would
undoubtely increase the price beyond the $299 target point. I don't
think Logitech would be happy with that!

to become a collector's item in the future. I thought about putting the
guts in a new case, but perhaps I should leave it as it is!

A $199 SB3 equivalent using Logitech's component cost and manufacturing

Have you tried unplugging or resetting your router?
If you unplug it, wait at least 1 minute before plugging it back in.
Also, do other wireless devices work OK? (Laptop, PDA, Nokia tablet,
etc)

Have you done a full factory reset of the Squeezebox?
(To do a factory reset: Unplug the SB, then hold down the Add button on
the remote while plugging in the power.)
Have you tested it using a wired connection to your router or a switch
on your network?

I'm of the opinion that it's ok to lend your friend a few albums whilst
he gets his ripped. By a few I would say two or three, not hundreds. No

Hi, I use the play all songs feature to make a playlist. I then shuffle
it. This way I hear ALL my songs before any repeats.
Problem I find is I have some albums that need to be played in the
order they are on the CD ( radio programs from the past)
So as I do it the songs are spread all over t
So join the tracks from those albums and leave them as 1 file per album.

Use TrackStat/DynamicPlaylists etc...
Not Played -> Never Played Songs.
Queue up an album or three when you're in the mood, and they will no
longer match the "Not Played" so not be inserted as it builds the
playlist.
