For many firewall you have to make slim.exe a "trusted" app to use
networks.
Slimserver also does multicasting on port 3483 - even though 3483 is
open some firewalls block multicasting.

I use SB with my iTunes library, and since the gapless version of the
software (which is much more stable) I have the problem of slimserver
truncating the end of all tracks, which is hugely annoying.

If you are using Slimserver 6.5.1 on Windows and using transcoding (e.g.
AAC, ALAC, M4A) on files then there is a truncation bug which is fixed

Now I've had a chance to use our installation in anger one thing which
is driving me mad is the fact that if you hit the playlist icon to pull
up the current playlist and hit the play icon beside one of the tracks

trafic. If there is trafic we wait an hour and try again.

I know that you can set it to standby which is more or less "shutdown".

I just installed the new 6.5.2 SlimServer release and now I am unable
to search for mp3 comments. I already did a rebuild of the database
but it did not help. In the code I saw that searching for lyrics is
similar to looking for comments and searching lyrics works as expected.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned is the FLAC compression level. The
CPU in the SB may have trouble decoding heavily compressed FLACs in
realtime. Try using a FLAC compression level of 0 or 1 instead of the
higher compression settings.

The homepage screen isn't 100% reliable. Sometimes it hasn't finished
scanning and it doesn't say its still scanning.

I'm now working with Stream Solutions to provide a stream relay server.
We are using Icecast which can relay a stream with a supplied URL.
The problem so far is that for some reason pressing Play on either a
standalone player (QuickTime player for example) or in-world in Second
Life delivers a 30
I'm trying this at present with a streaming provider. The problem I'm
having is that icecast client players drop out after 30-60 seconds.
Anyone got anywhere with this?

MusicIP must be running when slimserver starts.
You must also have the "use musicmagic" radio button checked in server
settings for the importer and mixer to be enabled.

I could not find a UK supplier.
I got mine from www.thinkgeek.com in the states - it cost just over £20
including shipping. I did buy two at once which may have made the
shipping cheaper.
Customs did not appear to be interested so there was no duty to pay.

to be additional format strings available, because I've always used the

Another remote related problem now.
I got the Universal JVC-DVD remote control now but I'm not able to
update the firmware. The box ask me to hold the BRIGHTNESS button.
I started slimserver -d_ir to get the button values back.
It works out that my remote only returns brightness_up and
brightne
according to the press release at the time, it will cost you around $20
million. yours if you want it.
