On the web interface under player settings/audio there are options for
crossfade. Might be worth taking a look at.

A "metallic noise" is a pretty common artifact on over-compressed
MP3s--I suspect that's what you're hearing (what bitrate are you
using?). The only clue that doesn't fit is the re-burned CD, and I'm
wondering if there was a flaw in that test or even a flaw in the player
that masks this particula

I can get a stream for a couple seconds, then it drops out.

If your two sets of files are in truly separate folders (i.e one is not
a subdirectory of the other), you have no symbolic links between the
folders, and you have done a complete clear and rescan (not just a
'changed music' scan), then you ought to be seeing only your new flacs.

You can get a decent estimate pre
The FLAC itself will be ~1000 kbps, although recent FLAC versions can
make files with as little as 700 kbps. Add 250-500 kbps overhead, so
you have ~1.5 Mbps per stream maximum.
If you actually have 85 Mbps through HomePlugs, you could run 56
simultaneous FLAC streams...I'm not sure about HomePl

Yeah, I find there are certain things that are fine, but other
rapidly-changing programs that are a problem. And I'm on Ubuntu, which

I must admit I installed this "old unsupported version" just 2 days ago
from the Debian stable repository and I was quite happy since it was so
easy and quick to do...
Debian is possibly a bit conservative, which was not the best strategy
in this case.

is that I can see the artists/albums I have.

I understand exactly what you mean, but unfortunitely SlimServer either
uses the file structure, or it uses it's database which is derived from
the tags. There isn't an option to use both.
As it stands you are either going to have to brows your music the way
SS displays it, or re-name your files

Found your response to a thread posted by someone else and you
recommended Thecus. Looked up the Thecus N5200Pro. Very Impressive! It
was also mentioned in the Thread that it has a celeron M processor @
1.5 GHZ and this makes it faster than the Infrant Processor.
