A "metallic noise" is a pretty common artifact on over-compressed MP3s--I suspect that's what you're hearing (what bitrate are you using?). The only clue that doesn't fit is the re-burned CD, and I'm wondering if there was a flaw in that test or even a flaw in the player that masks this particula

If your two sets of files are in truly separate folders (i.e one is not a subdirectory of the other), you have no symbolic links between the folders, and you have done a complete clear and rescan (not just a 'changed music' scan), then you ought to be seeing only your new flacs. davep -- dave

The FLAC itself will be ~1000 kbps, although recent FLAC versions can make files with as little as 700 kbps. Add 250-500 kbps overhead, so you have ~1.5 Mbps per stream maximum. If you actually have 85 Mbps through HomePlugs, you could run 56 simultaneous FLAC streams...I'm not sure about HomePl
