Hi!
I have installed shutdown.pm and Powrcontrl.pm and the both work fine.
I can shut down and start Windows/Slimserver as I want.
However, suppose I execute one of the plugins to shut down server and
PC and after 10 minutes want to start my SB3 again, this time on
Squeeze Network (WITHOUT gettin
Try pressing and holding the left button. That should take you back
to the setup menu where you get the option to connect to
SqueezeNetwork instead of a SlimServer.

Yeah, just did (using shutdown.pm) and you're right. I sort of "run
away" to the Sq-Network before the shutdown is complete. This way I can
then turn off the SB and when I start it again I start where I quitted:

is playing and then change the order of the queue. This is a great tool
for parties - passing the control to the next person for them to add
their favourite track(s) to the queue.

The problem you have plagued me for months. I run XP SP2 and have a
large music collection. I finally upgraded from 512M RAM to 2.5G RAM
about 4 months ago. The problem has not occurred since then. The SB3
command response is a lot better, too.

Still thing 0.99 per track is way too expensive. Downloading a full
album makes the price not-so-very-different from a 'real' cd.
Difference is too small.
I'll stick to Emusic. Far better deal, although you have to have a
monthly subscription.

Olive has on-board storage, so if you can access the directory from a
PC, you could perhaps use the Olive as your music storage, and then
slimserver to stream to a squeezebox.

I'd like to 'fourth' the problem detailed in the OP. My experience was
identical. When I woke up in the morning, the display was dead
although the optical light was on. The device is 13 months old.

If you use SS7, both the new Default and Fishbone skins support
Drag&Drop reording (and delete, in the case of Fishbone). In earlier
versions, some skins support move up/down links in the playlist.

Continue using flac. Max works for ripping to flac, though does not yet
do replay gain to my knowledge. For this I use foobar2000 in Windows
running on an Intel Macbook and replay gain the files on the server mac
over the network from within windows. For tagging in Mac use Tag(free)
or MediaRage (
I switched from PC to Mac a couple years ago. About the only thing I
miss about Windows is EAC, which I used to rip my collection into FLAC.
I think you have three options:
1) Keep ripping with EAC on your laptop. Then just connect over the
network to the Mac and copy the FLAC files over. (If
I've never done EAC but thinking about starting doing it, just for
ripping. Although I view it as a temporary solution as I'm sure Max
will have a secure ripping solution real soon.

was still using foobar to replay gain.
In other news, mac users can now see/search flac tags from within

I have problems with some drop outs while listening to music with
squeezenetwork. The squeezebox stops playing and does reboot, then I
have to press play again. This happens with different firmware versions
(older than firmware 81).
My squeezebox has a wireless connection to a Cisco AP123
