Hello everyone!
I need advice from anyone who knows about amps and large speakers...
if that's you - please read on!
I am in charge of the music for an event coming up in a few months
time, and have absolutely no idea what kind of amp and speaker set up I
need. I'll likely be using my
I had similar problems with some album rips a few days ago. Down to the
tagging of the tracks I believe. Not sure what you used to rip them but
I got round it by editing the tracks in a block and amending the 'album
artist' part to read 'Various Artists', leaving the 'artist' label

First of all let me say how helpful this forum is and that i've tried
most things on this thread to resolve my particular problem.
I just installed slimserver 6.5.4 on my pc with Vista Ultimate.
However I notice that the slimserver service always shows 'starting'

Ah yes, MediaWiki would be much better. Would certainly look better
anyway :)

Is it possible for me to configure my SB3 as a w.a.p?
I am using the SB wirelessly already. My house is long and narrow, my
wireless router is at one end, the SB in the middle. If i want to use
my laptop at the other end of the house (or even better, past the house
out in the garage/theatre)

I patched the Wiki to require a login to upload attachments to the home
page. Hopefully this will hold them off until we upgrade to MediaWiki.
Little success: the attachments were back today. Removing the link to the
attachment page isn't enough :-/.

The correct way to tell SS that an album is a compilation, as I
understand it, is put all of the tracks into one folder, for
example...
F:\music\compilations\best of cumbrian tight throat singing\
..if you store the songs artist\album...
F:\music\compilations\skell nonch\best of cumbrian

The easiest way to have compilaton albums displayed properly is to put
all files in the same directory.
You cannot just assume that a common album title is sufficient to group
tracks from different directories together. I have three albums called

I don't think having a list of albums like that was anticipated when the

Can you not just go into the Artist and see all the albums? or do you
have them tagged under different artist names?

goes the other way (connecting a wireless network to a wired one).

Yep, they are compilation albums.

Agreed, but it would get confusing as you can easily have multiple pages
for the individual tracks. So you have two sets of pages to look after.
The code, logic and layout could get confusing very quickly.
I haven't heard of anyone else having this problem other than yourself,

know that with my setup (slightly older than yours) IE always starts up

ready to talk, which would give a result like the one you're getting.

Try using the wallwart from the SB2 and see if that makes it work...
perhaps something died in the SB3's wallwart that makes it unstable.
If that fixes it, it isn't hard to find a replacement.

Still on the learning curver here. I select a song or album on the SB
or via slim server, it says its playing, but nothing happening.
If I select a new artist it does work.

You may need to specify a Slim Server playlists directory - I couldn't
get SS to pick up iTunes playlists until I did this.
Also, some of the older versions of SS were just crap at reading iTunes
xml (much better with 6.5.2/3)
