When I first saw that offer, I too was ready to buy immediately. Then I
saw the location requirement, and I just can't justify the extra
expense to travel there to buy.
I really wish the offer wasn't just for local buyers.

The offer is good only at and during the open house.
Sorry!

Probably a lot of good advice here, but one thing struck my mind. Could
the fact that you have put very many folders in e.g. the rock folder
contribute to the lousy performance? I don't think Windows can handle
this properly. Perhaps you should try to have separate folders for
Rock\A Rock\B etc.
Thank you both for your replies.
I guess you are talking about the new version 7?

I was talking about 6.5.4. Regarding what Andy said, you can manually
set the SB to find SN beta I believe. It's easier in 7.0 but possible
with any SS version provided you enter in the IP manually.

I believe it's built into SS/SC and has been for a while now. I don't

there.

OK, cool! But how do I find the IP?

Hmm, good question, I remember seeing it somewhere!
The web interface is at http://www.squeezenetwork.com:3000/userHome/ ,
which first implies that it's running off the same production SN
servers but at a different port. If you did a
SN beta is 207.7.156.11.

All,
I have an SSH authentication question for any of the experts out
there.
I have SSH set up on my windows XP server at home and I am streaming to
softsqueeze at work ... this works great and was very easy to set up. I
was wondering about authentication options available in SSH.
I have it

Is Public Key Based Authentication any more secure?
It can be if you choose weak passwords since it is not susceptible to
brute-force or guessing attacks. Otherwise, IMO it's just a
all you need to know about the encryption:

The sound stage will open up, bass will tighten and the imaging will
improve. DVD performance will also increase substantially.
Will do, thanks

Hey
I live in a shared house, there are 3 of us all hooked up to a gigabit
wired network, we already have speakers in the bathroom and now need to
work out the best way all 3 of us can play our music to it (at different
times of course) Im hoping i can buy this device, hook it to the
speakers
Any computer on your network can control the SqueezeBox (SB) via a web
browser interface. However, the SB is a slim client, and only connects
to one server at a time. So, strictly speaking, when your different
computers are connecting to the SB, they're really connecting to the
computer that is
I've recorded a lot of music at 320Kbps/mp3. I think, like you said,
that for a lot of purposes such as car or at work I would not be able
to tell the difference. I *think* I can hear just a slightly more crisp
sound out of a CD on some but not all music selections - but, in
general, 320kbps/mp3s
I've been looking for the same thing.
Unfortunately it looks like the best solution for boombox/alarm clock

Hi,
I was trying to subscribe to this podcast:

The individual MP3 links work fine when I just Tune in a URL, but I'd

The headphone output is output only, not input. Sorry, you'll have to
put an IR emitter somewhere nearby.
I guess you could also open the case and put the IR emitter just below
the receiver inside the case. There should be enough room for it.

I tried running it from the SB1 using the remote control under

To any talented entrepreneur out there- I'd pay $300 for a wifi
clockradio in a heartbeat.
Or- even an easier way to do this- write a piece of software that would
run on a laptop computer- and give you a display with a clock, sleep
function, etc. Business people could use this in hotel rooms-
Download slimserver now! It's free, and you can test it out before you
buy the squeezebox hardware.

Here is the senario. I am trying to stream my music from slimserver to
my laptop via winamp. Winamp connects but no music streams. This accurs
on the internal and external network. If I use softsqueeze I can connect
internally. I am using ver 6.5 of slimserver and ver. 5.5 of winamp. All

so I got my SB3 hooked up to a shiny set of Z-5500 speakers and all is
good.
well it'll probably be better when I get it connected via the optical
link because at the moment with the coax digital link the speakers turn
out not to be very smart... they power up looking only at the optical
input
Update, for the last 4 days I've been leaving the squeezebox powered
on rather than on standby and the problem hasn't happened since.
