No. Squeezeslave only talks to SC using slimprotocol, it does not access music files directly. When a new player is created, it defaults to bandwidth limiting enabled at 320kbps, if you don't have lame installed, SC thinks it's playing okay, when in fact it isn't. Try changing the SS player

Ok it's sorted. No I didn't have LAME installed, but nor did I have bandwidth limiting applied. However, the limiting options are greyed-out if LAME isn't installed, yet they still seem to be applied. I've installed LAME and that has enable the bandwidth limiting options. I've now been able to

Interesting, thanks for the feedback. It’s actually looking for line starting with any whitespace characters and seems to use this as a differentiation between the global settings (TITLE, PERFORMER, FILE, REM xxx) and the track-based settings. Many other programs actually use the same logic.

Install AlienBBC (use Extension Downloader plugin) and the mplayer application and besides enabling RealAudio streams, it also enable wma. There has been a recent issue with WMA streams with new fast systems/ distros - so post back if you have problems. -- bpa

I installed mplayer and AlienBBC as suggested. The installation seems to have affected both softsqueeze and my hardware player (squeezebox3). My hardware player can now play our local Dallas PBS radio station KERA 90.1. Previously this did not work unless I went through the Squeeze Network
