I have had two other remotes dying over the years and both times it have
been the IR-led soldering that failed.
It might be that a remote like logitech 555 can be used instead. I had
one a few years back and if I recall correctly one downloaded specs for
other remotes from a logitech database. I
Don't know. I doubt there's a magic URL you could use, but you could try
picking apart the firmware file with a hex editor or something.
It's easy on the Radio, where usually the opposite procedure is what
people want, ie, replace the fallback alarm with something better.

Sorry, I don't have a good answer for you for a Boom. The kludge answer
is to record the sound, save it as an mp3 file, put it on your server
as a Favorite, and then choose that favorite for the alarm. It will
work, but I hope someone has a better solution for you.

Hi,
When my squeezebox can't connect to its server and an alarm is
scheduled, the sound I chose to play on the server doesn't play.
Instead, a default sound plays. I really like it. How can I always use
it for the alarm (even when connected to the server)?
Thanks in advance!

Oddly - it is available on the non UK list which I think is the same
quality as the UK list.
Try the following URL - it is very slow to start so set network timeout

For me, in Napster, most albums play a track, then skip one (or two or
three), then play a track, etc etc.
It's still MUCH worse in the evenings, as well.
I can't say it's fixed at all...

I have same problem here in Israel - the local Logitech dealer does not
support any of the squeezeboxes. I have a classic (3) and the remote
dropped and does not work. If I get a universal that supports JVC DVD
will it work for set up of IP again and stuff like that as well as day

The ReadyNAS series are not very power hungry. There are some things you
can tweak to reduce power consumption at idle state. The biggest
optimizer is to let the disks spin down after x minutes of inactivity.
My NVX is running 24/7 and at idle the power consumption is less than 7
watts.

Does not a surprisingly large amount of NAS user have some DNS problems
too .
To compound the problem, so that their local ss/sc/sbs is not able to
contact mysb.com or the internet ?
The best thing to do is to solve that problem, can be a configuration
error on the nas or whatnot.

That may be just because it "reboots" when you remove power, so it
forces it to try to find an IP address
Is any buttons working at all ? the arrows or something ?
Otherwise before you brake your remote ;) you can go into the SB3 fw
settings to set it to uppgrade automatically, then you wont need the
brigthness button.
And in the later fw it is from now on always automatic.
otherwise I'm sorry :-/
