I'd just like to say that I find this app to do just exactly what it's
supposed to, and it does it pretty well. Now that I've used it for a
few days, I'm impressed with the functionality, and am so pleased that
it continues to be supported despite the probs that the PB has in the
market.

I have been at this now for hours and cannot even get to the shell.
I've tried with and without the local-address argument but continue to
get the following error. What am I doing wrong?

First up I know this is a really old post I'm replying to, but I noticed
this today on my SB3.
I was actually trying to compare the sound of two digital sources (SB3
and Marantz CD63) into my DAC by switching DAC inputs, and noticed that
the channels were reversed on the SB3 at one point.
I skip
I use the Analogue out connection to the Amp and the touch is hardwired
to the network

This happened occasionally with my sb3 and the reason was a less than
tight fit of the power jack. I managed to bend up the spring in the
female socket slightly so it gripped the male plug more
tightly...oooeerrr!!
It cured my problem!

Does it happen with the Analog outs or Digital?

Do you happen to have an external dac between the T
My library consists of mp3 files and it appears to happen at the end of
a track (can play the same track again and the noise doesn't happen!)
The problem occurred today with only the Touch being used as the
source.

What type of tracks? Flac, mp3? Sounds like an issue that can occur with
wav files and certain tags.

Does the white noise only come from the system connected to the Touch,
or are the other SBs affected as well. Assuming it's just the Touch, I
suggest doing a factory reset -- press the small button on back of the
Touch and hold it for 10-15 seconds, until the screen says that it is
doing a factory
Over the past couple of days a worrying fault appears to have occured
with my system.
At what appears to be random times I get a sudden burst of extremely
loud white noise from the amplifier, the only way to stop this is to
stop the touch.
I have a squeezebox Touch, Boom and SB3 all in different
Yes, it does. The SB3 automatically updates or downgrades the firmware
as soon as it connects to the server, if set to do so.
Press & hold left arrow, enter Setup, scroll to Settings > Auto Update,
select ON or OFF.

Disable the Bridge Mode and try again. I suppose recent changes of the
firmware to keep Rhapsody decryption causes this effect.

f/w update is automatic? Really? Never happened to me. I always have
to press BRIGHTNESS (or, on SqueezeRadio, select some menu item).
Also, I don't think that the thing would ever willingly downgrade the
f/w. So, if in doubt, hold BRIGHTNESS. There's no harm in it.

No-one got any ideas? I disabled the "Web Shield" on my Avast AV
yesterday to see whether this would make any difference. Nothing - the
SB3 keeps going on the blink ("Can't connect to server") all the while
quite happily streaming videos into the AV stack. Quite something.
