I love my Squeezeboxes, but it's only when you try to explain to someone
how it all works that you realise that for the average bod it's all
quite complex.
A non-techy pal of mine visits and really enjoys using Squeezepad to
browse Spotify and listen to anything he wants (well almost). So, he

Maybe I've missed this, but is there a way of changing what the default
action on tapping a song is (i.e. play now, play next)? I know you can
hit the small symbol at the right of each track but that requires
memory and co-ordination - which I tend to lack

1. run squeezebox server
2. be linked over HDMI to my TV (not having DLNA support) and able to
connect to my workstation in order to stream my .avi files (samba, NFS
or FTP..)

It takes 7.7.2 approximately 6 minutes to perform a new and changed
music scan on my nearly 140k collection.

As You have already figured out Yourself, the best SB server might just
be the computer You already have :-)
Personally I used to think I need a NAS, but ended up using our
desktop-replacement laptop with Windows 7 and WOL (wake on lan) - works
great.

My wish list:
Add the choose genre menu in the random play menu
Display albums from artists in chronological order based on the release
date (like squeeze commander)
Ability to add apps such as pandora to the main menu
