I realize that this is a "give me ideas for new plugins" thread, but I
have to say that what I feel is missing in the Squeezebox "experience"
is missing from the base server.
- Browse Album Artists.
- A better, more dynamic web interface with more attention paid to
making it easily
I'm actually quite happy with my Squeezebox setup, I spent a lot of time
getting it so that it is pretty low maintenance, especially important
since my son was born I'm more inclined just to listen to music and my
tinkering/forum posting has dropped dramatically.
Roughly speaking the main element

Using Softsqueeze to debug sync is pointless as Softsqueeze is known not
to sync reliably. Only the hardware players can sync reliably.
To see what is happening I suggest enabling the logging (player.sync) as
it will provide hard evidence on why LMS is trying to resync. For sync
to work properly
- reduce standby power to <1W
- add HDMI video and multichannel audio playback capabilities
- wireless speakers
- small "digital" hi-end mono amps to drive audiophile speakers,
extendable/syncable to multichannel setup
- choose between advanced and simple setup

agree!
edit: but then again, my Touch plus Benchmark DAC cost more than my
Transporter

ok - So I downloaded 7.6.1 and installed it on a virtual machine. This
I did purely to get to a defauilt installation of SqueezeServer.
I then also ran up two instances of SoftSqueeze

Player Start 0ms
Player Audio Delay

I think most people would say that title goes to the Transporter, but
for sound quality per dollar (or euro or pound or peso) the Touch is it.

Have you tried entering the URL with a selected style
Apparently not.
Maybe I am overlooking something, but I don't see anywhere that such a
skin selection would be done.
You'd see the default value, labeled "Slimdevices".
