Is there any restriction as to the number of pages displayed or number
of songs on a playlist with slimserver?

Sorry I do not understand your answer.. I currently show 86 pages with
4337 songs. What is the 500 items?
The 500 items are only a limitation for what you can queue up to be played
next. I don't know of a hard limitation for stored playlists. Keep in mind
though, that you can't play such a

This value can be changed in Settings/Advanced/Performance.
