Simple Answer to original Question:
YES!
A Pi with Hifiberry DAC/Digi and PiCorePlayer is pretty much perfect. If
you've got passive speakers, maybe the Hifiberry Amp is your choice, but
I have not tested that myself.

I've installed the plug in but not having much luck.
I can either have it set:
TRACK // ARTIST <- stored music
TRACK // RADIO STATION NAME <- radio
or
TRACK (ARTIST) // ARTIST<- stored music
TRACK (ARTIST) // RADIO S

I got this error on all of my 3 Squeezboxes (2 x Touch, 1 x Radio) with
Spotify: "500 Can't connect to 194.132.198.244:443 (certificate verify
failed)".
Just as I am typing this it started to work again.
Whoever did whatever to fix it - thx!

I am currently getting a very similar error message when trying to
connect to Spotify from my Squeezebox radio in Europe:

Hi there,
I'm now seeing a similar, but slightly different, error message when I
try to access My Library in Rhapsody. The message is this: "500 Can't
connect to direct.rhapsody.com: 443"
Is this part of the same issue being investigated previously in this
thread?

Good project, so far the best lms + player integration.
But no console, no ssh, is an ugly thing.
There's no support for bluetooth dongle, it could be usefull for
additionnal players (something like a portable squeezebox boom for
kitchen or bathroom). And, it can be added without console / ssh /
