What nas do you have and what version of LMS are you running?
If you want to select a folder, what folders do you see? None or not the
right ones.
-Synology nas DS115 - Logitech Media Server 7.9.0 ('LMS-Repack'

It's available on SoundCloud so works on Squeezecloud and ickStream. I
find ickStream's search to be a bit better.

I totally agree that it was way overpriced, but for an "inside joke"
it's an awesome and innovative product, so much so that I overpaid a
second time. Works great, sounds great and looks awesome in my rack.
@bpa
You're probably right, I saw a project on Github that is apparently
working on Protocol V2, but not sure how stable or useful that is. I
thought for a moment, that BubbleUpnp Server might help, but I'm not
entirely sure how it works, and whether it would serve this purpose at
all.
Well
I believe the most realistic route would not be to modify the
Chromecast, but to teach LMS (or rather a LMS Plugin) the Cast Protocol.
Pretty much like BubbleUpnp that can send data to pretty much
everything, including Chromecast devices. Problem is, that's on Android,
no idea how "open" the Cast

I'm new to this "casting" stuff as of yesterday but I'm learning fast.
As I reported earlier, I have experimented running cast capable apps,
Spotify and LocalCast, with good success. But then I noticed that my
Android phone has an overall casting control. I turned it on and the
cast icon appears

And is it bit-perfect so it will work with DTS and AC-3?

Unlikely since users have not been able to root existing Chromecasts
with recent firmware. It seems only Chromecast with old not-upadted
firmeare have been rooted.
That's actually a perfect plan!!!
I just set up Squeeze2Upnp, and it works perfectly with my AMP, meaning
I son't need the Pi in the lounge anymore...if it works with the
Chromecast Audio as well, then that means I can keep LMS, but still use
the Chromecast devices to stream from LMS (webradio
i have two, one of which i use via its digital output to a Meridian G61.
i could use a touch for the same purpose, but the transporter looks so
much cooler.
i paid $1300 for one, and $600 for the other, several years apart. the
average seems about right, and it sounds fabulous via its analog
@bpa
I really hope it's possible to do that. Google just confirmed that you
can't use the Chromecast Audio as DLNA receiver directly.
I'm no dev, so I have no clue how you'd go about streaming to Chromecast
from anything but Android/Chrome/iOS
If it is possible though, it would make installing

Funny that. I've never had any reliability problems with any version of
SlimServer/SqueezeCenter/LMS. I've run various incarnations on
Chromecast Audio has a nice price, presumably because Google is setting
the price based on a mixed calculation (you don't just generate revenue
by purchasing the hardware, but also by using more Google services).
IMO, the way to exploit the cheap hardware is by hacking it. Google
