OK, got a regular (HDMI dongle) Chromecast and hooked it up to my Synology NAS. Installed the plugin on LMS and it works great - I can stream my music to the Chromecast and it essentially functions like a Squeezebox Receiver would. Even many streaming Tunein stations will work (but not all).

Using 'original' Chromecast dongle, connected to TV HDMI. Installed and apparently working (after some oddities with LMS crashing, and not restarting until full server reboot), however doesn't actually play anything; It does cause the TV to display a blank artwork, under which [LMS to UPnP]

I know this thread is old ... But your messages & support saved my SB from trash! I encountered the same issue: no display but the red light of the optical output still working ... I had an old PSU delivering 5V / 2A. I only had to change the connector and my SB is now working fine. So ...
