For a recently rescued Boom I've just ordered a "TOSHIBA PA3458U-1MPC,
A100 A105, SATELLITE A105 A135, M40 M45, ASKEY AR5BMB5" ... for around
£1.90 including postage.
I have high hopes ...

My new old Boom arrived today.
Seller had described as not working and something that was picked up in
a boot sale or similar.
It has a poor power supply connection but real issue is that the front
panel lights come on but not the screen.
A bit of digging around in old posts etc showed that
I had no luck with alcohol. So I resorted to a couple of rounds of Goo
Be Gone followed be cleaning that with Dawn and water. It helped a fair
amount, but there is some tackiness remaining.
MrC's Profile:
This is a common problem with a lot of natural rubber over-moldings.
Cleaning with Isopropyl alcohol usually does the trick, although it make
take a few rounds of cleaning.
SuperQ's Profile:
Some of my remotes have the same issue and it is the same as one of my
Booms. It was a surface treatment which over time breaks down. It the
same on a iPAL radio I have.
The rear of my Touch is plain hard shiny plastic - no surface treatment.
I suspect your Touch issue may just be "dirt".
I haven't experienced this with the remotes, but it's a common problem
with the front panel and knob on the Boom. I've had some success
over-painting those parts with a matt lacquer rubber paint, so if you
can dismantle the remotes sufficiently to isolate the sticky part it
might be worth a go.
Hi,
I am looking for some inspiration here.
I have several Squeezbox Classics and a Touch and a Duet. I have a
collection of remotes to go with them.
Those remotes, universally, now have a sticky surface around the keys.
I have tried isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) without much success
