An update. Changed some settings back and forth to clear the existing
ones from the config, and the display glitch is now fixed. I just
didn't deal with it before now.
It was not a priority, and is still not much to think about, as this
client hides behind a door. Now I stare at an undecipher
sadly this does not work any more for me. after this summer vacation i
switched on the power and everytime i try to connect at the save_data
step (i.e. after selecting the receiver and setting the server
addresses) there is an error message:

In the early days of my setup I had major problems with this (mostly
running pis in various setups and distros).
Ultimately every one of my problems was solved by switching to Ethernet
for the majority of players. Wifi gave me all sorts of headaches.
