have Lame installed for AlienBBC (which sold the whole setup
to my wife - what an excellent addin), but from my understanding it is
not used as all my music is encoded as MP3.
Any help will be appreciated.

I think that I have cracked it (hopefully) I am syncing between an SB2
the newest squeezebox and SoftSqueeze. When I unsync SoftSqueeze the
problem goes away. I'll let you know if it comes back.
