Just trying to eliminate a possible cause. Sounds like it could be a
network/buffering issue. You could try changing the buffers for your
audio device - I'm not entirely sure if that's likely to help, but it's
a quick thing to try.
How is your NAS connected to your Daphile box and do you have
Normally, you wouldn't work this way. Have you tried scanning your NAS

I have my M-DAC connected through one of the USB ports and Daphile
recognized it immediately. But I hear small plops in the music stream.

For sure, those of us who are able to get a Pi or whatever hardware

How does the ram-disk playback work? Is this now automatic (data
shuffled from disk to RAM) or do I need to copy manually?

Almost sounds like DoP is a safer bet!
It should also be possible to do this on the fly with dsd2pcm maybe
using a customconvert file. I don't have a DSD dac so haven't given it
much though other than a 'what if?'
I see that Kipeta has put together such a plugin with his DaPhile

PS. Are you running Foobar in WINE in your screenshots?

It should be noted that the onboard toslink appears to be limited to

I run both XBMC and Squeeze in my household. I have toyed with turning
my hifi side of things over to xbmc and it is possible to get pleasing
results.
However - it is too complex and I'm not sure AudioEngine sounds as good
as straight ALSA (although I've not done any subjective testing of
this)
Watching this thread with interest.. just about to purchase a wandboard
