There are many folks running LMS on lots of different flavors of Linux.

Maybe I'm missing something, but the simplest approach is probably to

I've found dar.fm to be unreliable. They have also slowly removed
features from the free version over the last few years. I now use
streamripper which is a simple tool that can be run from cron.

I've seen this happen to my SB2's after a power glitch where a byte or 2
of the MAC will flip to FF. You can set the MAC address in the firmware
menu.

As a non-audiophile, I've been thinking about how I might use
Squeezelite with a Pi/Wandboard/etc as a tabletop replacement. Can
anyone recommend good quality USB speakers (AC powered) suitable for
this purpose? By "good", I mean something similar in size, price and
quality to the Audioengine A2
I've been having the same thoughts about USB displays - both touch and
non. They are much cheaper than hdmi and even a vga resolution would be
sufficient in some uses.

maintaining my local music library and only have a library of specific
artists and albums that are not on Spotify. So I now use my SBs in one

Marvell and Globalscale have done a crappy job of supporting their
products and developing a community around them. It's a mistake to
judge the Linux community as a whole based on this example.

This is the key point. I anticipate that my SBs obsolescence will be
driven by incompatibilities with music services going forward.
Note that many of these cheap tablets come with no Google apps which
means no Market. Be prepared to sideload the Logitech app and anything
else you will need. Depending on your budget, you can also look for a
used Nook Color and install a custom ROM.

I'm fairly happy with Rhapsody and I like that I can use it on my
Android devices as well as Squeezebox. There are still quite a few
things missing though. I might try Slacker Premium if full Squeezebox
support is added.

If you are running SBS, synced players will used proxied streaming. For
me, this can maintain perfect sync for many hours of internet radio.
I'm not sure how reliable it is if you use mySB.

When I browse my library by album, they are sorted alphabetically.
When I browse by artist, albums are sorted by year. Is this
intentional? Is there a setting to change this?

Artist-ArtistName, I get a list of albums sorted by year. If I browse
by Album, they are alphabetical. Are these 2 separate options
somewhere?

tablet. I like Gingerbread on this size device and have some questions
in my mind about whether Honeycomb will be better or not.

AFAICT it's just larger on a larger screen with no user control. On my
7" tablet it looks pretty good, but might not be so great on 10".
Flatterman has said he plans to release a tablet version in the future.
