Well, everyone will have an opinion, but I suggest you try OrangeCD by
firetongue software. The music manager can scan FLAC files and, as the
developer has a squeezebox, it has proper built-in support for the
slimserver to send music to be played.

What tool? Could be you have a mess of ID3v1, ID3v3 and APE tags. Check
out mp3tag and use it to remove all but one type of tag - instructions

I think the jury will be out until slimserver 7.x appears. 6.5.x wasn't
properly tested IMHO and has left that ragged edge of bugs and flaky
plug-ins which only informed users find acceptable.

I'd guess there remains another tag. Have you really used mp3tag to
show all the tags (ID3v1, ID3v2, APE,...) in the file.
Failing that, try using foobar2000 to rewrite the tags.

These one-box systems are all very well as 'lifestyle' accessories,
loaded up with a few 100 tracks.
The real asset is your library of ripped & tagged music; no way would I
allow the lock-in from a vendor with my 1,500 albums on their closed

This is to give a market entry to the 'tweakers' to offer cryogenically
processed on the dark side of moon PSUs at a very reasonable $750.
One hand washes the other.
Given the the speed of sound in air is 345 m/s, even a 10m separation of
Squeezeboxes (one upstairs, one downstairs) would result in the distant
sound being delayed ~29ms to someone at the local player.

There's one flaw in the strategy to monetise Slimsevices - it can't

NB. I only really got tags sorted out by using mp3tag and following the
instructions in the Wiki here on how to set it to remove all but one
sets of tags for each mp3/flac/wma/og file. ID3v1, ID3v2 and APE tags
in an MP3 file were very confusing to slimserver.
