To be fair they're the scumbag FA/Team restrictions since they not the
BBC own the broadcast rights.
While the technical scumbags at the BBC have re
I get the feeling I will be feeling foolish also...
Will check and update mine this evening.
I don't think it is easy to understand though, I assumed that choosing
5live would behind the scenes pick the UK version.
However as an Evertonian, I want to avoid listening to it much at the
moment ...
Yes, thats what the problem was! I was using the international URL!
Changing to the UK URL solved it. It was a simple as that. Have to
admit to feeling a bit foolish now!
Thanks for all your help

Hi
Found this thread
http://forums.slimdevices.com/archive/index.php/t-30387.html which
lists the following URLs for the BBC:
BBC Radio 1: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/wm_asx/aod/radio1_hi.asx
BBC 1Xtra: http://www.bbc.co.uk/1xtra/realmedia/1xtra_hi.asx
BBC Radio 2: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/
Hi Tom,
Do you have any further information on why this is? As Andy says when
he paste's the link into a browser then it plays fine but when accessed
through Squeezenetwork it isn't recognising we are from the UK.
I don't really want to have to go to the extent of installing AlienBBC
on somethin
I'm pretty sure you need the Alien BBC plugin to play RA streams.

Hi partick
URL didn't work for me, do I need any plugins to use it? I'm not using
any plugins yet but will do if necessary. I added URL as a favourite
and pressed the play button. Briefly comes up with "Stopped Five Live
Commentary" on web interface then nothing.

Hi Andy,
I had a similar experience when I first got my Duet but a URL posted by
bpa fixed it for me.
Create a new favourite pointing at the following address:

I have the same problem as Andy, am in the UK and certain programs are
restricted via the Squeezebox but available via pc. I posted a similar
query back in August but as yet haven't had chance to follow it up:

Will be interested if anyone can
The WMA streams are available from Internet Radio/Staff
Picks/Webcaster/BBC.
All URLs can be added to favorites - these include the RealAudio ones
as well as WMA ones.
Also you can use the the Radiofeeds plugin.
There are two URLs for 5Live - UK only and International. Football
feeds are proba
Isn't there an alternative url for 5live which actually does stream the
football? I seem to remember being able to add a url to my favourites
rather than just going through AlienBBC?

Hi bpa, I will get the info you've requested tonight (when I can't
listen to the Champions League commentary from my squeezebox but can
from my PC!)
Hi jimbo45, I am in the UK, so presumably, somewhere down the line,
something thinks I am not??

You CAN get round these scumbag lawyer restrictions stopping people from
listening to BBC football commentary provided you can log on to a server
in the UK. If you have a colleague in the UK or you are from the UK and
currently overseas set your HOME computer up as a home server
If your remote mac
Give more details.
1. What URLs used.
2. Was the Squeezebox direct using SqueezeNetwork ?
3. WHat were you using on the PC ?

Still confused about this, I can listen to live commentary on my PC over
the internet, but not via my SqueezeBox over the same internet
connection. How come?

It also applies to the odd recorded programme. For example Desert Island
Discs on Radio 4 is not available via the Internet because the widow of
the guy who created it refuses to grant the BBC rights to Internet
broadcasts.

Yes, it will. Yes, all of them. Yes, SoftSqueeze as we
Perfectly normal unfortunately.
The BBC get the rights to "over the air" radio broadcasting for most of
the premier league matches they don't always get the internet
broadcasting rights.

Hi
Only had my squeezebox since Sunday, so still finding my way around.
Turned on Sunday afternoon to listen to the bbc football commentary but
got a prerecorded message along the lines of "due to contractual issues
we are unable...blah blah". Is this the norm for bbc live commentary?
If so, is
