where I will be living. But no Slim Devices.

Not highly processed at all. Instead the DSP is

Amazon.com says the shipping weight is 8 pounds. I'm not sure how
accurate that is but it weighs more than it looks like it would weigh.

Acoustic Energy Aego Ms are fantastic little speakers that can fill a

A Sub/sat system, the sat's weigh a ton (made from metal) and are very
solid.
Good quality cabling provided too.
I use a set in my Study hooked up to a Mk6/3 Beresford Dac playing

I disagree. For my tastes, the Boom has all the bass that I'd ever want
it to have
What does the Boom weigh?
Specs only have Dimensions: 13"W x 5"H x 3.1"D
I would take one to Cyprus by air in my luggage if it was not too
heavy.

There's been no mention of the slight functional differences of the Boom
- having buttons on the front, and a big knob which you can use as a
volume control, makes it far easier for non-geeks to turn on and use.
My wife doesn't touch my SB3, but she loves the Boom in the kitchen.

Or if you're ready to spend more than the price of the boom, maybe you
could buy a Boom and a cheap Subwoofer, which from what I heard
drastically improves the sound quality of the boom. So you have the
advantages of both solutions : a better sound quality than just a Boom,
and the Nicer and small
I purchased a Squeeze box duet about a year ago with AudioEngine
speakers. A few months later, I purchased a Boom for a different room
when it first came out.
I think the sound quality from both is very good.
However, if I was to have the choice now that both products are
available, I'd definite

how about something like a set of acoustic energy aego M speakers with
an SB3? they're apprently excellent speakers. although if you got them
new it would take you over the cost of a Boom. the creative labs T20s
are also supposed to be very good and can be had for about £50

A happened to have a $30.- Logitech X-230 2.1 speaker system in the
pilothouse aboard Jedi. This set has so much base that I stuffed it's
reflex-port with a piece of cloth even after turning the sub's volume
as low as possible. I recently connected an additional SBR to it and it
sounds quite accep

to be honest, if you're happy with the suond quailty from a couple of 30
quid speakers then i'd imagine stereo seperation wouldn't be too high on
the list of concerns.
I prefer the boom, don't have to go hunting for the remote all the time
and can just do stuff on the box.

Depends on the cost of the speakers, and if the £30 Maplin speakers
better the Boom output, I'm ahead. Best UK price for
I have a Boom in the kitchen and an SB3 Classic with Audioengine A5's in
the bedroom. I purchased the Boom for the bedroom, but moved it to the
kitchen because even though it sounded very good, IMO it lacked stereo
separation. So if you want stereo separation, go for the Classic and
powered spea

The comparison most often made between Boom and SB+active speakers is
the 'Audioengine A2' (http://www.audioengineusa.com/a2_home.php).
Search the forums for what various listeners have to say. Most say the
A2s are comparable to the Boom in sound quality, but they're a lot more
than GBP 30.
