I'm about to re-engineer my home network with an eye toward using an NAS and a Squeezebox as a source for a high-end audio system. A brief search didn't uncover this particular configuration, so here are my questions: - -(re: network)- I want to use 2 (wifi) laptops with three devices conne

The Squeezebox system requires a "server". This can either be SqueezeNetwork, or SqueezeCenter. SqueezeCenter normally runs on any kind of PC, but has been made to work on some NAS devices. My personal suggestion is to setup a cheap, low power Linux PC to act as the "NAS" and SqueezeCenter serv

1. Yes, this should work fine, but... 2. You need to run Squeezecenter (SC, the server application) somewhere to be able to listen to you local files. SC can be installed on any PC or on some NAS devices. It's also possible to run SC on the PC and store the audio files on the NAS. Make sure that

One last question. Given the need for a server running SqueezeCenter, what are the pro's and con's of attaching an external hard drive to the server (Firewire or USB) vs. connecting an NAS device to the router? In either case there's a server running SqueezeCenter. Do I gain performance, reliabili

I'd recommend a really light-weight PC running Windows or Linux to use as a server, in lieu of an NAS. That way, you're insured of always being able to run the latest version of SqueezeCenter, instead of being at the mercy of someone porting the latest version to your particular NAS. Check out l
