I tried this afternoon.
Switched the SB3 off at the mains.
After the logos, pressed right arrow to interrupt the automatic connect
to SlimServer.
In the Current Settings bit pressed the right arrow on Firmare and
there it was. :)

Unfortunately, you may or may not be able to get there. You need to
browse to the firmware display screen (under current settings). Mine
said Firmware: 81 or something like

It's probably part of the karaoke plugin you recently installed,
displaying lyrics while playing music. You're a big The Who fan, aren't

Interestingly and a bit of a hijack I noticed when I first got my SB3 it
usually says Free the music... when I switch it on, but one time it
said something about Rock or Rocking sth.. What was that about? :)

karaoke plugin? never knew about that or installed it. I did update
firmware to get it to
