Here's a twist. Because I am using mp3 files, I thought I should use
TSOP to sort my artists. I tried and failed. I was surprised, since I
thought this would be supported, based on my reading of
http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.cgi?SlimServerSupportedTags and
various discussion threads. I then to

Excuse my newbie question, I did try a search on "6.2 release date".
Now I think yo

I'm just coming to do this and it occurred to me that, for ease of
typing, one doesn't really need to bother with the [albumname] at all

That's pretty clever. On reflection I think this is the best compromise
for me personally. Like Jim, I really want my albums by artist to sort
in chronological order and this does it whithout quite such a
disruption (for me) to the sort mode when browsing by album. I'm also
now realising that I wa

FLAC files use vorbis tags. You can embed ID3 (though I'm not sure why
you'd want to) and some players will recognize them, but others will
barf on them.

Wow. Thank goodness for search. This was exactly my question. I have a
few follow-ups though:
1) This thread was left hanging. JJZolx asked if the ARTISTSORT is
SlimServer specific. Is it?
2) I hope this one is rhetorical, but just so I make sure I've
understood correctly I assume that if a

Thanks, Jason. The ARISTSORT tag does indeed work. I take it this tag
is SlimServer specific? I can't find anything mention
