Symptoms on my Mac have been even worse than a rescan just on iTunes startup. In addition to that a rescan seems to take place about once every 5 minutes if I have iTunes running. I can watch the cpu on the server machine max out to 100% for around 90 seconds and then there's about 5 seconds wher
