This was the answer! Fortunately I still had a 6.5.1 download h
I installed 7.5.1 on another machine tried to connect through that. Now
I get slightly further. The update thermometer starts, gets maybe 1/5
of the way and then there is a message that flashes too fast to read
except I think the first word is "Problem" and then it displays the
message to press br

Maybe you should try the upgrade by installing something like SS 6.5.X
first.

See if you can connect that player to MySB.com and get the update from
there.
