If you are in the UK and the BBC servers think you are using a UK ISP
then you should be able to play all the BBC WMA stations which includes
Radio 1,2,3 & 4.
Some problems do happen.
1. You are using an ISP which looks like it comes from outside UK (e.g.

Some ASX URLS are playlist and not playable streams URLS but the
majority of ASX URLs are playable streams.
RealAudio will work if using a Slimserver/SqueezeCenter and you have
installed AlienBBC. RealAudio will not work on Squeezenetwork.
Are you using SqueezeNetwork ?

Tried both, but I now understand RealAudio isn't meant to work. But
WMA doesn't either.
Yes, UK based.

I got the same result - however if I edit Favorites.opml and add a
type="audio" to the Radio 5 entry - it will play.
It looks like there is a some sort of bug which needs more

Can you be more specific
1. Are you using the RealAudio or WMA streams ?

I can't get R3 or R4 either. When I do it via browse location, it
doesn't work, though all other stations I've tried do work.
When I go via the web and use the links posted above, I get an error
message saying "no valid audio streams were found in the playlist you
entered". I copied the links r
Yes I'm sure.
It works on 'Tune In', but not as a 'Favorite' here.

The R5 URL ( http://www.bbc.co.uk/fivelive/live/surestream_int.ram )
played OK using Tune in on my SC 7 on XP.
Are you sure you haven't managed to add a hidden char at the end after
ram ?

Using the remote:
Internet Radio -> Staff Picks -> By city -> London, UK -> BBC Radio 3
(UK ONLY) -> Go
Plugins/Alien/custom-types.conf
# AlienBBC types
#
#ID Suffix Mime Content-Type Server File
Type#

rtsppl rm,ram,rpm ?
ram files type are set up in AlienBBC custom-types.conf. So when SC
find a ram file type it should be passed onto AlienBBC.
It should probably be checked but strange that AlienBBC is getting the
URL first.

The R5 Real URL seems fine becuase it plays on the PC. I wondered
whether there is a problem with accessing .ram streams through
favorites on SC?

I think the multiple tracks on the WMA are a crude way of load-sharing.
If first one fails - then the 2nd will be played and so on.
A more reliable way of getting RealAudio stream would be to play a
stream using AlienBBC and then save it to Favorites. Some of the URLs
sites don't keep up to dat
The R5 Real Audio ones (from your links) give:-
There was an error loading the remote feed for : (Invalid XML feed -

when added as favorites
They seem OK using Real Player on a PC.

Since you are based in the UK you can listen to the WMA URL. So create
two entries in SC7 Favorites - one for R3 and one for R4. You can do
the same on SN.
If you have AlienBBC installed then in SC7 you can also make Favorites
entries for the RealAudio streams (as an alternative).

I'd like to set up my Squeezeboxen so I can quickly listen to BBC Radio
3 and BBC Radio 4 when I want to. What's the easiest way to do this?
Cheers,
