My premium trial is about to expire for mp3tunes and now I'm trying to
work out what exactly is the value of the premium service. Rhapsody,
Pandora I can understand, but mp3tunes on the SB allows me (for a
price) to stream music that I already have locally on the SC. Am I
missing something here?
No - but you can use you Squeezebox without a PC with the premium
service.
I'm also considering buying a cheap mini-itx if I wan't to go the Duet
way, I guess that a NAS is not flexible enough. And When I fiorst read
about MP3Tunes I didn't see that you have to pay for the extra Squeeze
feature.
I used MP3 tunes for a while with my SB3. I haven't tried it with SC but
there never used to be any cover art on SS6, although I did upload it.

for which there was no artwork on mp3tunes.

I was also wondering about the MP3Tunes thing. I have resisted spending
for the NAS but I also don't like leaving my computer on all the time.

Will it be possible to run the Squeezebox Duet only with MP3Tunes ? And
will the remote be quick enough and display cower art.
All my music is stored on my NAS today but the NAS isn't powerfull
enough to run SqueezeCenter 7.0 (Synology DS-101j) and I don't wan't to
have a PC running.

Not sure you get cover-art when playing from mp3tunes via SB/Duet
(although you do with other Music Services like Pandora, Rhapsody,
Slacker).

Running the Duet with SqueezeNetwork and MP3Tunes will work just fine.
No idea bout cover art and MP3Tunes though, I've not used it.
