My opinion, iPeng on an iTouch/iPad/iPhone is better then the Controller hands down. There is just no way to go wrong. I have recommended that several friends check Ebay and Craigslist for used iTouch to put iPeng on for their Squeezebox Controller. Its also a great reason to get the better half

I'm a long-time Squeezebox Controller user, but since my daughter has an iPod Touch, I asked her to install iPeng out of curiosity. She did the download/install, so I can't comment on how easy it was, but suffice to say that within about 5 mins of me asking her to get it, iPeng was ready to use.
