You cannot open .pdf files using OOo. Adobe is the most common software for opening pdf's. You should be able to open .odt using OOo as well as .doc formatted files. Are you saying that when you try to open an .odt file using OpenOffice it is all scrambled? /paul On 9/28/06, Phillip Yagla <[EM

How can I resolve a problem with Writer which just started after working fine for some time? When I save as either an openoffice doc. or as a pdf. it now saves as a generic file which can only be opened by Adobe Reader. When I attempted to open with Writer it is totally scrambled.
