An option in the word count dialog that would enable users to count
characters both with and without space will be a much needed and long
awaited one. It is a feature used widely in MS Office by translators,
writers, journalists and technical writers, to name a few professions.

but in 1.1.4 I use in an open document: File
Properties Statistics which gives me a report on
number of words and of characters including spaces and
punctuation. It reports lines, as well, which is
useful to me, but may not be of any intere
