Have to agree with Paul. For someone familiar with Calc it is surprising
and confusing that Sum in a Writer table cannot be done using the method he
demonstrated. In Calc the method Paul demonstrated is the one I use most
frequently. The method you demonstrated is one I rarely use.

Also, if you're using Windows 10 it has it's own built-in PDF printer.
Select "Microsoft Print to PDF" as the printer and it will produce a PDF of
the document.

I've used LibreOffice from the beginning and OpenOffice before that (and
still). Have donated in the past and provide some support in the mailing
list mostly for Writer and Calc.
I've also been using Linux for years and am familiar with
