Using the changes described in this pull request
https://github.com/dovecot/core/pull/190, you can add SMTPUTF8 capability to
the Dovecot LMTP server. Work on the patch is still in progress, and UTF8
support is not complete. However, you can use the following trick:

Does dovecot handle smtputf8?

Hi!
It’s been some time since I last saw a mention of SMTPUTF8 here. Last
time I heard about it, it was worked on.
Does anybody have news about that?

Hi,
same here, I updated my hole mail infrustructure (postfix, milter, etc.).
Now only dovecot does not support SMTPUTF8, which forced me to disable it
compleetly on my edgeservers.
Thanks

I haven’t seen this term on the mailing list for a while. I don’t know
if you’re tracking this somewhere, in any case I’m curious if you are
still planning to add support for SMTPUTF8.
Cheers,

I am trying to find out if Dovecot supports "smtputf8". Obviously, I
am looking in the wrong places, but I just cannot find a definitive
answer.

Dovecot does not work as the "final mile" delivery host in a fully-compliant
SMTPUTF8 chain.
This is on the (long) list of things todo.

You have a solution that properly maps UTF to a non-UTF namespace. As I
understand it,
quite sure you have it working?

Well, what a puzzle. I will have to investigate. I also tried it with
Gmail, and the failure was definitely between Postfix and Dovecot LMTP,
with Dovecot failing to advertise SMTPUTF8 support. My setup is much
more minimal, I use file-based virtual mailboxes and aliases, and only

Hi,
I'm currently trying to set up SMTPUTF8 on my mail stack, but I can't
find any information on Dovecot's RFC 6531 support. Has it been
implemented yet? If so, does anyone know how to activate it?
Regards.

My delivery pattern is Postfix -> Dovecot LMTP and it is choking on utf8
messages.
I might be able to volunteer some of my time as a developer.
