I have an HP 410C that I like a lot. And, of course, an ancient Simpson 260. From your posts it seems you're pretty good at getting your Drake stuff working -- maybe you can apply the same ability to the Heath meter you have.. 73, -Doug, W7KF Carey Lockhart wrote: i am looking at several m

Carl: Another option is to build the thermostatic fan control circuit that I published in the Summer, 1992, issue of Communications Quarterly (this article is available on-line at J M Cherry's Virtual Drake Museum under the "what's new" tab). My fan control circuit mounts in place of the fan socket

On the TR7 I use a 12V fan slowed down to about 9V with 4 series silicon diodes. Does a great job and no noise. John K5MO ___ Drakelist mailing list Drakelist@zerobeat.net http://mailman.zerobeat.net/mailman/listinfo/drakelist

Along the same lines (I think) I note that more and more desktop computers have gotten away from small fans (i.e. 80 mm) and are using large fans (120 mm) and running them at slower speeds, all in the name of reduced noise. Hopefully, Carl, you will be able to come up with a way to mechanically

Carl, I just installed a 24v EBM-Pabst fan on the back of my TR7. Getting 12v out of the radio to run at about half speed. I then put a 2w 80 ohm resistor in series to slow the fan down more yet. This is the third try at fans, and its now nearly undetectable, but moves enough air OUT of the

Hello to the group, Am working with my TR 5. Initially used a R.S. fan but was way to noisy. Read the archives. Evan K9SQG said he used 220 V. ...soo A Boxer 230 V. with ball bearings "Pewee" starts and runs fine. Still to noisy. Made neoprene washers for the metal to metal mount...no help.

Phil, Apologies to Dave, but I've had very good luck with the HC-4 element thru the matching xfmr driving my Drakes (T4XC, TR-4C). I also have several older Hi-Z Shures and EV's. My Shure 545S works particularly well with the Drakes. All have pros and cons. The Heil set-up is equal to the ot

Hello PSG, Correct regarding the impedance. Heil does offer, or used to, an impedance matching transformer to allow the Heil elements to be used on Drake/Collins rigs. They even sell a special cable for Drake-Collins. However, they do not work well. I have an HM10 and it barely has enough g

Heil also sells their audio transformer separately (P/N XT-1,$15.00 on his web site) so you can transform the mic impedance as needed. However, I beleve you will still need separate bias connecton for the for electret condenser elements. 73, Gene K1NR On Wed, 11 Feb 2009 13:59:33 -0

The HC4 and HC5 elements in the HM10 are low impedance wheras the Drake microphone inputs are high impedance. Heil does make a microphone for Drake and Collins vintage radios. It has a built in impedance changing transformer. It is known as the GMV. John GI3KDR -Original Message- From:
