Any 2-B's or early 4-Line's that I worked on that the buttons where faded I
would sometimes paint red, new ones werent available.

Yes, the switches are obviously a different material and do not fade.
The buttons seem like they were 'dipped in red ink' or very thin paint.
WA9TGT used to make replacements that were turned out of solid red
plastic, but they were hand turned, so not inexpensive.

The 2-B started at s/n 2001, the schematic is dated 4/20/61
12087 is the latest one I've ever heard of, and had to be very near the
end of production. WB4HFN's S/N database shows S/N 12060, date coded 11/62.
The other schematics are
S/N 3001 - 9/22/61
S/N 4500 - 12/4/61
S/N 6290 -
They were originally all silver, to match the knob 'brights'. Most
that I have seen were worn to some extent, so I wouldn't be surprised if
someone had attacked them with White-Out or similar! The 2-C has
similar knobs, and while the skirt is smaller and the pointer different,
they are also
I double-checked my #12087, and I did send the correct S/N. I have none of
the original paperwork that went with the radio, so can't say when it was
purchased or where. Knowing that 11/62 is a ballpark date, though, is a big
help to me in trying to reconstruct some of its history. Thanks,
Mine appear to be white, not repainted.

I am not sure where to find date of schematic, but my number is 531626290.
Upon starting I check a few things and found the S.AVC/F.AVC only has one
section, not two as per the schematic R71 and bottom section are not there
on my set.
My manual talks about sliding the scale to calibrate but
Paul,
I am doing this from memory, but decoded, I think your schematic says 5-31-1962
and started with serial number 6290. Hope that helps.

What is the serial number of the radio? The schematic you have is
Version 4, for s/n 6290 and up. If you don't have a red button, your
unit was built to one of the other three versions!

Hi Nigel...
Yes, they are for 1/4 shafts, with set screws.
As best we can determine, these are smaller and / or a different style from
other Drake ham rig knobs. The W-4 wattmeter uses the same style, but
larger, for example. As best we can tell, these are unique to the UV-3 as
far as Drake
Hi People,
I've got an R4C that is jumping frequency by +- 1 Khz, then slowly
returns to the correct frequency only to repeat again, and again.
I have installed the ground strap mod, and exchanged several tubes,
cleaned the switching, and checked all the RCA jacks on the rear panel. At
You simply need Garey's CD covering the 2B, as it contains all the schematics
of rigs produced. Nice to have around for reference and repairs!!

The S/N is 2860, a long way from 6290.
Not sure when it was purchased I am not original owner. I have some call
signs scribbled on the manual.
