[Drakelist] R4C Bias and S-meter setup?

2010-08-29 Thread Scpmiller
Well I read the instructions in the manual but in the end it didn't seem like it was setup right: s-meter zero pot to mid range then setting the s-meter to S-3 (with a 1 micro-volt signal) and then setting the s-meter to a 30,000 micro-volt signal (60 over s-9). Before I started this the s-m

[Drakelist] Drake 4 C-line side tone when operating CW

2010-08-29 Thread Jim Bo
I prefer a "lower than normal" pitch/freq when digging out a CW signal out of the noise or adjacent CW signals. I am using a Timewave DSP-599ZX. The tone that I "prefer" is centered at 480 Hz or so. Also, the 250 Hz I.F. crystal filter I have works best at 480Hz signal tone. Question, how

[Drakelist] TX4B no plate current help needed

Hi... I'm new to this list and was hoping someone could point be in a direction to solve this problem. I recently purchased a TX4B that only has bias current, but I get can't any deflection in the meter beyond that. I tested the tubes and found a weak driver 12BY7A and replaced it with a new one. I

[Drakelist] R4A ssb weirdness hard to tune

2010-08-29 Thread Joe Loverti
Hi, I just posted a question about my TX4B, but *also* have a problem with a R4A receiver. The receiver seems to work pretty good, except I do have some trouble tuning LSB signals so they can be understood. In other words, garble is all I get. The weirdness is that not all the signals are like tha

Just a note, I would be very care full running the L4B on 110V. Look at the manual, I believe Drake recommended not more than a 10 foot length cord to the wall outlet and a number 10 wire for the cord. 73 Tim wb8uhz From: Ron Baker To: Peter Alterman ; drak
